Live Review:: Drive By Truckers 30 & 31st March Charleston

I arrived back from Charleston, SC late last night where I saw the Drive By Truckers Friday and Saturday night at the Music Farm. The shows were a whole bunch of fun, but a blur too. The first night began with “Where the devil won’t stay” and ended with “Buttholeville“. The second night began with “The living Bubba” and ended with “Ain’t talking ’bout love“. Somewhere inbetween those two nights’ bookends was a whole bunch of songs and more than a couple of drunk fools. There are many photos from these shows, and hopefully soon I’ll get some posted. Below is the setlist for Friday night’s show. Finally, I want to thank the guy who gave me that elusive Cooley solo dvd after Saturday night’s show. I’ve been trying to get it for ages.

Tuscaloosa’s Dexateens opened up both nights and were damn good as well. They brought another three guitar attack and a bass player who spent the entire time smiling, which I think makes everyone have a better time. If you haven’t heard them check them out. They’re a good band whose music in the most simplest basic terms is southern psych garage etc…
