Artist Spotlight::Steely Dan

I’ve always loved Steely Dan. My buddy says they are the greatest band ever. I don’t know about that, but they were something. It is hard to put an accurate mark on the music of Steely Dan. The music is by far more complex and different than any other pop music of the time, and pretty much since. They make me think of California, cocaine, tequila, and what it was like to be in your early twenties in 1979 riding around in a Jeep high as a kite and just laughing and smiling. Their music just has a swagger to it like I can’t describe. Go and throw on Aja and let Black Cow kick it all off for you – I can’t cry anymore while you run around…drink your big black cow and get out of here. It definitely doesn’t inspire sitting inside the house and sulking. I mean these guys were living when they wrote this stuff. Walter Becker and Donald Fagen made some incredible music that has inspired many a good time.
