The Jazz June to play final show next week

The Jazz June, the heralded indie-rock band from the 90s, is playing a FINAL benefit show to help their roadie, Adam Gerhart, through medical and financial hardship. Gerhart has been diagnosed with stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme brain cancer. The benefit show will be at the M Room ( in Philadelphia , PA on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 . The show will also include a “punk rock raffle”. Ian Mackaye from The Evens has donated signed Evens records and a Dischord box set. Jade Tree, Polyvinyl, Doghouse, Buddyhead Records, and Siren Records ( Doylestown , Pa ) have also made donations as well to help raise money for Adam. Other bands on the bill are The Grey AM ( Sunbury , PA ) and Street Smart Cyclist ( Philadelphia ). The doors will open at 8 p.m. , $8 advance/$10 the day of the show.

The Jazz June reunited for the first time in several years in the winter of this year after learning that their roadie and long-time friend had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. They have played several shows over the last few months including gigs at the North Star Bar in Philadelphia , PA , The Court Tavern in New Brunswick , NJ , and Ralph’s Diner in Worchester , MA . The band has raised thousands of dollars for Adam and is playing their final show ever as one last homage to Adam and all their friends and fans who have supported them over the last 10+ years. They will also be promoting a live CD/DVD titled “The Scars to Prove It” which is a collection of live footage and audio including the full set from January 13 show at the North Star as well as interviews and tour footage spanning the bands 10+ year existence. The CD included in the package will feature six previously unreleased tracks, select audio from the North Star show, live songs from a Princeton Radio, and live acoustic versions of songs from a Monmouth University Radio show. “The Scars to Prove It” will be released by Universal Warning Records on September 18, 2007 .
