Shootin’ The Tube:: Ringo Starr Is The Greatest

Well I’ve been getting into some Ringo Starr with the recent release from Capitol Records – “Photograph: The Very Best Of Ringo”. Can you believe Starr scored several hit singles in the early 70’s before Lennon & McCartney solo? Well believe it! How can you deny the very cool groove of songs like “It Don’t Come Easy”, the tongue and cheek of “You’re Sixteen (You’re Beautiful And You’re Mine)” – the video features a young Carrie Fisher –, the rock of “Back Off Boogaloo”, and the reggae vibe of “The No-No Song”. Lots of tracks to take a listen on. It also helps when you can employ some great backing musicians on your LPs ie: John, Paul, George, Harry Nilsson, and more! I still remember seeing Ringo a few years ago with his All Starr Band – although not quite as classic as his early 70’s output – but still an entertaining evening.
