album review::Ravens & Chimes:Reichenbach Falls

Ravens & Chimes debut full length Reichenbach Falls comes out today on Better Looking Records. There is an immediacy about the music of Ravens & Chimes that compels you to listen on to hear how the drama unfolds. In fact, from the opener “This Is Where We Are” through to the finale “Chloe,” the album reads as if the listener is being allowed to peer into some private episodes, where the specific themes may be a bit obscured, but the tone of the events is made ever clear by the music. Reichenbach Falls sometimes feels theatrical in the way that there is so much going on in terms of dynamic moments of ups and downs, and then there are lulls like the acoustic instrumental “Candles.” Reichenbach Falls is no doubt, one of the more engaging pieces I’ve came cross lately and from beginning to end it is apparent how much more thought out the music is than a lot of other releases.
