album review::Mobius Band:Heaven

Mobius Band have another one of my favorite albums of late, and it is called Heaven. Mobius Band are Peter Sax, Noam Schatz, and Ben Sterling and they started the band in the small town of Shutesbuy in Western Massachusetts, with Peter and Ben moving to Brooklyn in 2004 where the band now resides. “Heaven” is the bands second full length, with ten songs of electro pop that come off sounding really organic, necessary, and modern, while avoiding sounding effeminate or like someone doing a b-grade version of something someone did better in the eighties. From beginning to end, it is no exageration that Mobius Band have succeeded where most fail — in making a new relevant music document. There is so much melody and atmosphere on “Heaven”, and the album comes with barely a lull and plenty of hooks and drops that will keep your soul buzzing. Opener “Hallie” breaks it all open as one of the records flagships, and then “Secret Language” pumps it up, both displaying well thought out inspired songs with great changes that set the bar for the rest of “Heaven.” If pop starts to all sound as good as this, i’ll be much more of a fan.
