Snake & Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band:: X-Ray Spirit

Heavy on the organ & good theater, without all the crying and promises of changing, Snake & Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band come front and center with their inter dimensional freakout X-Ray Spirit. If Booker T. and Wire got crossed in one of those machines like in The Fly, you might have a start to what is going on here, but not really. On opener “Ten Cities Beyond,” it is no lie that I find my feet slipping backwards a’la M. Jackson, as the track explodes with a heavy sequence of organ pandemonium. “Favourite” takes off with an angular guitar riff eventually morphing into a future rockabilly sound, finally landing in a hypnotic passage of hammering guitars overmatching the power of the organ drones to create a dense groove. There is more to love in the form of Snake & Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band’s alien retro vibe fest, but words will only disappoint this one. There is plenty of music and video to check out on their website and myspace.
