Jex Thoth:: Self Titled

Jex Thoth, a psychedelic heavy rock band named after its enigmatic singer, has announced the release of its self-titled debut album courtesy of Swedish imprint I Hate Records. The band also include former Wooden Wand leader James Jackson Toth (Grim Jim) on bass and guitar, backing the frontwoman who had previously lent her harmonies to his former group. Silas Paine (guitars / bouzouki / flute), Zodiac (keyboards / studio wizardry) and Johnny Dee (drums, percussion) complete fill out the rest of this difficult to pigeonhole band. The group never shysfrom progressive rock and folk, while remaining thunderous all the time. The band’s debut album (which follows an EP released under the name Totem) is part of the evolution for Jex Thoth who take their influences from early Danzig, Ozzy and avant garde chanteuse Catherine Ribeiro, and psych-folk savant Bobb Trimble.
