Portland Cello Project

According to Portland Cello Project co-founder Doug Jenkins the purpose of the collective is to provide support to local artists and give them an orchestral accompaniment, in addition to exposing people to new music via the cello. Working with Northwest musicians like Laura Gibson and Weinland, the Portland Cello Project sees tunes such as Britney Spear’s “Toxic” re-imagined with a new regality that permeates the album’s twelve tracks. Certainly by the time this one is over, you will see the cello in a light far removed from stiffs and upturned noses. The Portland Cello Project release their self-titled debut CD August 12th.
