imeem and Universal Music Enterprises have made the deluxe editions of U2′s first three albums, Boy (1980), October (1981) and War (1983) available for free streaming on imeem starting yesterday, one week prior to the albums’ releases on July 22, 2008. Following the release of the re-mastered edition of The Joshua Tree last year, Edge has overseen a similar re-mastering of the first three albums, all of which have been re-mastered from the original audio tapes. The deluxe versions of the albums include a wealth of b-sides, live tracks and rarities. Fans can listen to these deluxe versions of U2′s albums in their entirety on the band’s imeem profile (http://imeem.com/u2music). Fans can easily share these albums with friends or embed them on their blogs, web sites, and profiles on other social networking services, including MySpace and Facebook, using imeem’s embeddable music playlist widgets. These deluxe editions will also be available for pre-order on imeem.
