Irmin Schmidt & Kumo:: Axotlotl Eyes

Irmin Schmidt, founding member of the legendary kosmiche group Can, and breakbeat pioneer, producer and Professor Of Popular Music, Kumo (aka Jono Podmore) release a brand new album, Axolotl Eyes today on Mute Records. Rhythmically intense and cast spellbound by abruptly dark mood changes, held up by glassy sounds and middle eastern horns, making this album sound both exotic and otherworldly. Taking in this as a whole, one will find delight in how moody Axolotl is in its’ beautiful orchestration and resulting head space. Energetic and off-kilter through tribalism touched up with traumatic soundscapes and jazz fused sectionalism, Axotlotl Eyes is always surprising in its destination. The album features several tracks with Ian Dixon on trumpet and vocalist Paul J Fredericks, and as a bonus, the studio album is accompanied by a 5.1 surround sound DVD of the sound installation Flies, Guys and Choirs, first conceived for London’s Barbican Centre in 2001.
