The Faint & Fasciinatiion

Next week, Omaha’s The Faint release Fasciinatiion, their first album in four years. The album is The Faint’s fifth album and the first in the band’s ten-year history to be written, recorded, produced, art directed and released entirely on their own. Fasciinatiion comes in as an enjoyable effort in the electro/dance rock vein, full of fluttering synths and working melodies such as on the futuristic chop of standout “The Geeks Were Right.” If I didn’t know better, I’d swear they were English, as Fasciinatiion strikes me at least in some part as a more futuristic synthed out Blur, a’la the self-titled album.
