Mason Proper:: Olly Oxen Free

Mason Proper’s Olly Oxen Free is an entertaining piece built from varied song construction, fractured orchestration, and an overall feeling that the repression fueling this work has been deflated. Stressed out grooves permeate Olly Oxen Free, with release coming in some unexpected, though appropriate proportion, worked throughout by the rhythm section, and the more than capable vocalist. Certainly one of the best records of the last couple of months, check out the band on tour and listen to “Lock and Key,” from Olly Oxen Free.
