Modern Skirts:: All Of Us In Our Night

Fans of Modern Skirts debut, Catalogue Of Generous Men, will find sophomore effort, All Of Us In Our Night, to be as intoxicating if not superior. All Of Us In Our Night has all the vibe of the summer, complete with female drama, motivated intrigue and melody to match. “Chokehold” is bright and laid back releasing catchy lines like, “please don’t bother me about living with your brother in an old RV.” All setting the stage for the delightful cruise of “Radio Breaks,” – – a sweeping process of harmony, melody, and brass, including my favorite line, “just because you miss me I’m leaving my bills for you to pay.” Much to love throughout this one, whether it be lyrics patently made for repetition, or fine instrumentation which even recalls a classic Casio drum sound on some spots. Mike Mills of R.E.M. produced the lovely “Motorcade,” on All Of Us In Our Night. David Lowery of Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker produced another five.
