Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones

Los Angeles rapper Aceyalone returns with Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones, in stores March 31st. While his 2007 work Lightning Strikes brought out Aceyalone’s love for Jamaican music, Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones sees a colourful hybrid drawing from doo-wop, funk, Phil Spector, finger snaps, 60s girl groups, and a myriad of other elements. Listen to the track, “The Way It Was,” to see that this isn’t just some varied description with unsatisfying results. “I’m not from that era, but this is my ode to it,” says Aceyalone of the album. “I’m just putting myself into that character as a showman and bandleader. But I can still rhyme with the best of them. Artists are going to experiment and go different places and I love that whole era anyway.”
