Luaka Bop:: Twenty First Century Twenty First Year

In celebration of its 21st year, Luaka Bop has released one of the best compilations I’ve heard in a long time. The album includes works by Marcio Local, Nouvelle Vague, David Byrne and more, with the emphasis on groove, Bossa Nova, movement, and melody. I realized half way through this disc that I was much more familiar with the music than I was aware, having heard many of these catchy tunes before. Vibrant throughout, not only are there no duds or filler, Twenty First Century Twenty First Year is one of the few compilations worth adding to your library. Not to mention, this music is as much built for the summertime as anything.
