As of late, Elizabeth & The Catapult have forged a welcome reprieve in my head from the most trying of work day hours existing between 2-5 P.M. Taller Children opens with the playful stirrings of “Momma’s Boy,” before heading off into a quite palatable affair of many moods – whether that be festive, dance-filled, contemplative, isolated or what have you. While the single “Taller Children” should provide some immediate pleasure for the ears, expect other delights by way of the world of bicycles and parasols titled “Rainiest Day of Summer” – reminding me of that much beloved overcast 2004 album titled A Girl Called Eddy. Moreover, the touching solitary acoustic spiritual of “Apathy” is sure to come as a welcomed surprise. Much like real life, Taller Children is never gleefully sunny, though it is a rich and easy ride.
