Cast Spells:: Bright Works And Baton

Cast Spells:: Bright Works And BatonCast Spells, David Davison of Maps and Atlases newest project, has released its debut EP, Bright Works And Baton, on Sargent House. The six song work goes down rather easily, appealing to the senses from the onset with the halfway glee of “American Quilt” and its subsequent march. Davison and producer Jason Cupp played nearly every instrument themselves on Bright Works And Baton, leaving little to be questioned.  This is easily one of the most complete EPs I’ve heard in a while with every song offering something palatable rather than the space filling dribble often found on short works.  The immediate sway of “Pioneer Plant” is the track I keep going back to repeat.  Listen to a few tracks from Bright Works And Baton on Cast Spells’ myspace.
