fun. issues Aim and Ignite

funalbumOut this week is the debut album from fun, consisting of Nate Ruess (The Format), Andrew Dost (Anathallo) and Jack Antonoff (Steel Train). Opening with the celebratory “Be Calm,” Aim and Ignite then fires off with the choir spiritual onset of “Benson Hedges,” before heading off on a hearty pace. Violin and Viola convene on the inspired “All The Pretty Girls,” while cello cements a little extra flare on “I Wanna Be The One.” Good melodies and movement pervade Aim and Ignite, with a bit of happiness drawn in there as well, perhaps best exhibited by the female / male vocal interplay of “At Least I’m Not As Sad (As I Used To Be).”
