Ah Holly Fam’ly:: Reservoir

ahfcoverPortland by way of Idaho eight piece folk group Ah Holly Fam’ly release their album Reservoir on October 13th.  Mounted by the voices of husband and wife Becky Dawson and Jeremy Faulkner, Reservoir uses everything from flute, sax, clarinet, violin, cello and lapsteel to fill out a lush and compelling work.  Throughout the album’s ten tracks runs a strong cinematic feel as if the music were drawn for a technicolor film. Whether with the tide, or falling short in stemming it, the sensation of floating on water is unavoidable on Reservoir.  One of the most striking albums of the year, this one goes off best on a Saturday or Sunday morning;  expect consummation on the record’s finest track “Loneliest City.”
