The Cribs:: Ignore The Ignorant

AlbumCoverIgnore the Ignorant sees Yorkshire band The Cribs fixing an ace with the addition of Johnny Marr’s talents, who became an official member of the group in February 2008. While post-Smiths that ace hasn’t ensured solid product in the end, Ignore The Ignorant comes off as an exciting and compelling twelve track record. The album opens with the chunky guitar splurge and emphatic choral bombast of standout “We Were Aborted.” “Cheat On Me” ups the ante with a striking refrain finished off with vocals nearing strain to galvanize the immediacy of it all.  All that and the album has barely gotten started.  With The Cribs’ Jarman Brothers giving him the best material he’s had to work with in a long time, Ignore The Ignorant settles as the most vibrant output Johnny Marr has been a part of since his own legendary band ended two decades ago.
