Rain Machine:: Dates with The Pixies; Give Blood video

raRain Machine is the first solo work from Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio. The album finds Malone in continued search and ponder mode as he travels through the eleven songs on the album. “Give Blood” starts off with such movement and tenacity that one might get the impression that this album is more TVOTR than advertised. A few songs in and that point will be obsolete as Malone’s realities start to bend and congeal into new meanderings mixed with both bite and confusion. Some are more striking than others, extending themselves to great lengths while often forsaking melody. The meandering “Desperate Bitch” is fulfilled by the occasional strong vocal line and its contained words, while others like “Love Won’t Save You,” just go on and on. Overall, not a bad listen, but hardly complete.
