MV & EE remind me of a dried and salt cured 70′s Neil Young with Jerry Garcia’s thin, though incredibly sharp guitar occasionally cutting in there. It’s a sound I like, and one that continues on their latest release, Barn Nova. The record opens with “Feelin’ Fine” planting a loose curvaceous riff to ensure the footing for Barn Nova’s desert backdrop of psychic pitfalls and shaministic ravings. ”Trapperhead” exposes itself with translucent guitar stirrings, done over acoustic and afterglow to welcomed result. Elsewhere, expect rushes of lap and pedal steel, harmonica, otherworldly tones, and some skins and a little guitar from J Mascis. Barn Nova is MV & EE’s 4th major release after a decade’s worth of recordings issued by their own “Child Of Microtones” label.
