Dum Dum Girls release I Will Be

LA’s Dum Dum Girls are the project of singer Kristin Gundred who goes by Dee Dee, and last week released the debut album I Will Be. This full length fits square within the realm of sixties’ girl groups, Raveonettes, Psychocandy, Vivian Girls, reverberating snares, and pop songs with multiple uses of the word “baby.” Even though I have grown tired of many of the aforementioned things, I Will Be still managed to hold my attention with its crafty melodies and multiple turns. “Blank Girl” sounds like Jim Reid has joined in, whereas the simple pop structures of The Vaselines are echoed on “Everybody’s Out.”  Clocking in at less than thirty minutes, I Will Be should manage your attention at least that long.
