Cardinal in late spring

Earlier in the year Cardinal, the duo of Richard Davies and Eric Matthews, released their first album in nearly two decades. Now, we have the announcement that a handful of live dates will be undertaken in May.

“These songs are special to a lot of people, and more importantly, they are special to me,” explained Davies. “It has been a long wait to take them on the road, and while it may be a little ragged compared to the recordings, I can’t wait.”

Eric Matthews, however, will not be a part of the live shows. “It’s hard for me to contemplate a live version that doesn’t involve eight of me running around playing multiple instruments,” he admits. “Even then, playing live has never really been something that interests me in the way that it does Richard. So, while I will look forward to our intense creative partnership continuing on the recording side, I support the decision to play these songs for our fans, even if I won’t be there on stage to do so.”
