Another 2012 album worth its salt comes by way of Seattle singer-songwriter Robert Deeble. Take in two videos below from the forthcoming album Heart Like Feathers, Deeble’s first full-length release in six years, out on February 7th. Heart Like Feathers will also see a deluxe limited edition version in April that will include a CD of acoustic demos and a DVD with the “Sunflower” and “Eucharist” videos. Enough about me, get a sense of what it sounds like below.
For your Monday trials get a dose of singer/songwriter Matthew O’Neill’s album Starface Redux and take in a live video below. Its almost certain to bring thoughts of Neil Young and Thurston Moore.
Raleigh, NC duo Old Bricks have a new work of glistening refraction and elsewhere movement which comes by the title of City Lights. The album is available on a limited-edition run of 12″ vinyl in addition to digital. Hear what it all means here.
Wavelets have a new album by the title of Athaletics which was recorded by Matt Finch and Ryan Williams at Black Bear Studios (Hot Water Music, Chris Wollard, City Of Ships). This is the point where I’m supposed to offer some description that seems to say a lot but really says nothing. Some call that sophistry. Find your own way with a listen to Wavelets’ album Athaletics.
Just gave this Hectic Zeniths album a spin and thought it was interesting. I’ll spare the vacant descriptions and point you to the first hand evidence here. Hectic Zeniths is an anagram for the German word Zeitschichten, meaning “layers of time.”
Columbus, Ohio’s Red Wanting Blue just released its new album FromThe Vanishing Point. This release brings a strain of songwriting and performance likely to appeal to fans of a more organic American pop/rock. This is the band’s first new album since 2008’s These Magnificent Miles which was re-issued in 2010. Some tunes below for a better sense of things.
I’ve only had a couple plays with Cardinal’s new record Hymns, but I have to say after a near two decade gap these guys have done some nice work. I’m not gonna say it has the atmosphere and pomp of the self-titled record though the tunes are good enough in sequence to hold my attention. Hymns comes out on January 24th.
Just had an enjoyable first run with this new 4-Way split release featuring The Copyrights, Grey Area, The Reveling and Luther. The release follows up The Copyrights’ 2011 album, North Sentinel Island, on Red Scare. This is also the follow up to Grey Area’s split 7″ with Go Rydell, Luther’s Siblings & Sevens 12″ and The Reveling’s Tributaries album.
