Brooklyn based three-piece A Place To Bury Strangers have signed a worldwide deal with UK based record label, Mute. On Friday April 17, the band will appear at the 2009 Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA. They will also headline this year’s PsychFest in Austin, TX on Saturday March 15. The band is currently in the studio working on an as-yet untitled sophomore album. The Brooklyn based three-piece have earned the reputation as the “loudest band in New York” –police shut down their 2007 CMJ performance, and the band has been known to blow the power out of venues.

Charles Spearin’s The Happiness Project was released this past Valentine’s Day to growing acclaim. The Happiness Project will be presented live this March as one time special engagements in the settings of Toronto, Montreal and New York. Spearin is a long-time member of Toronto-based bands Do Make Say Think and Broken Social Scene. Award winning director, Christopher Mills helped to spread the world of The Happiness Project with his six and a half minute short film, seen below.

As mentioned before, The Jesus Lizard is reuniting the original line up to perform in 2009. April 18th marks the return of Record Store Day, an event to support the independent record stores. With that in mind, Touch and Go will release Inch from The Jesus Lizard, for sale on Record Store Day only. Inch is a collection of all the 7” singles The Jesus Lizard released on Touch and Go, remastered by Bob Weston and enclosed in a foldable clear plastic package, suitable for both compact storage and bedroom wall display. Inchis a nice package, including a 7” of “Puss”, the Jesus Lizard’s side from the long-gone split with Nirvana. and the “Gladiator” single, originally given away exclusively at a Jesus Lizard Brixton Academy show in London back in 1992 and nowhere else. The band is set to perform at ATP: The Fans Strike Back festival in England on May 8-10. Additionally, the band has just confirmed another date in London on May 11th at The Forum.

Toronto electro duo Woodhands is back with a new digital EP that is a collection of remixes, and reworkings of the track “Dancer,” from their well suited full-length debut, Heart Attack.
