Dylan Champagne:: New Equation

Dylan Champagne:: New Equation Dylan Champagne’s New Equation is a largely acoustic affair done with subdued vocals rarely only a few degrees above a whisper, detailing nine episodes of contemplative solitary confinement. Certainly fans of low key acoustic and introspective confessional works will find some rest here. Though the subject matter varies through many a reference, New Equation comes across as a piece unraveling with exhaustive life, thirsting for decompression, and scouring other strange and venomous places the mind goes to after 4 A.M. Following that thought, “Junk Parts” has all the isolation and netherworld immediacy of Robin Proper-Sheppard’s Sophia, including the desolate vocal attack.

The Dark Romantics:: Heartbreaker

The Dark Romantics:: HeartbreakerTaking their name from the 19th century American literary school featuring names like Edgar Allen Poe, Emily Dickinson and Nathaniel Hawthorne, Florida’s The Dark Romantics release their new album Heartbreaker today. Leader Eric Collins (ex-Denison Marrs, The Party People) commands these thirteen tracks with some stirring after-midnight-vocals swung over dynamic and efficient instrumentation. Heartbreaker’s main thread is the exploration of the embedded relationship between love and pain, and more so, how that which entices us with high degree, is just as capable of tearing us to shreds. Heartbreaker is a fine feast for lovers of the night who see the occasional beauty in sadness, and while it may lead to psychic drain, at least there is motion in its’ release, and never seen in better light than on the track “Never Been Loved.”

Civet:: Hell Hath No Fury

Civet:: Hell Hath No Fury Civet’s Hell Hath No Fury is a hot cinder entanglement fueled by intense estrogen onslaught and laced with an old age punk spirit. Coming from Orange County, California, Civet bring off the rails guitar and often big catchy refrains and a track called “All I Want” co-written by Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong. Self-described as femme fatale punk rock on their site, the reference is well received. The barrage of aural attack commences with being wronged by a lover on “Alibis,” following on to standout “Son of a Bitch,” which opens with a surf riff, and talks of extreme mixed emotions. Things scream on the pounding “Pay Up,” before moving on to the anthem ”All I Want.” Bass vibrations break into a mean guitar screech up the neck on “Take Me Away,” making way for an action packed sequence to the end.

Noel Gallagher attacked in Toronto

Noel Gallagher attacked in TorontoNoel Gallagher was attacked by a fan at the V Festival at Toronto Island Park last night (September 7). While the band were playing ‘Morning Glory’, midway through the band’s headline set at the festival, a spectator rushed the stage from the side viewing area and pushed the guitarist to the ground (NME).

You know they love to tell us stupid lies like we are all equal, but some of you are absolute morons.
